I have called San Jose home for over 22 years.  I saw San Jose as the hub for high tech industries we have known as the “Capital of Silicon Valley.” Fortune magazine has called San Jose "the epicenter of information technology." 

San Jose was founded in 1777, California’s first civilian settlement in California. San Jose is comprised of 178.2 square miles and is approximately 45 minutes south of San Francisco and 90 minutes north of Monterey. San Jose is the third largest city in California and the 10th largest city in the nation.

The City of San José has the nation's best public safety record of any metropolitan area, a marvelous ethnic diversity and a beautiful climate. The San Jose Metropolitan Area ranks first in the nation in median household effective buying income among all metropolitan areas.

San José is a great place to live, work and play. Rich in history and cultural diversity, San Jose is recognized as a city of innovation and entrepreneurial success. More than six million people visit San José each year, San José offers world-class cultural arts, nightlife and professional sports (including the NHL's San Jose Sharks), theme parks, shopping, nationally recognized hotels and restaurants. San Jose is also the home of San Jose State University. San Jose ranked first among large metropolitan areas as a world class manufacturing community based on manufacturing strength and the high productivity of area workers.

San Jose metropolitan area continues to have the highest productivity level of any region in the U.S. San Jose leads the nation in the number of high-tech companies. The education level of the San Jose metropolitan area workforce is one of the highest in the U.S. 67 percent of the workforce has some college education and 40 percent have earned a college degree.
